Bruno Leti’s most recent book, in two volumes (‘Shades’ and ‘Shadows’). ‘Shadows’ is devoted to photographs in which the shadow is always part of the formal property of the image. In ‘Shades’, the pared images are monotypes in which there are no clear relations between a thing and its shadow, but rather a sense of shading, or varying degrees of darkness where color or light makes a limited presence of itself felt. In each volume are prose texts by Alan Loney that hinge about the various themes and possibilities of shadows and shades. The images are laser-printed by the artist, who also designed the book. Paper is Zircon white wove, typography is by Alan Loney the typesetting is by Pam Keenan, and the texts are laser-printed by Susan Bernabeo. Norbert Herold made the bindings in two colors of Indian handmade paper over boards, and the perspex slipcases were made by Luciano D’Amico. Each volume is 69pp, 275x205mm. Edition is 20 copies, of which 16 are for sale. AUD $880. Order from Electio Editions.
