This book is derived from but does not reprint the author’s essay, Meditatio : the printer printed : manifesto, issued as a chapbook by Cuneiform Press (Buffalo N.Y. 2004). Where there is poetry is a distillation of that book into thirteen short texts on the relations between poetry and typography—a subject that has long been the focus of the author’s attentions, both as a poet and as a typographer. The texts are printed in black, blue and gold thruout. Accompanying the texts are six typographic images, multi-colored. The book is written, designed and printed on an Albion handpress by the author. Types are Dante, New Hellenic Greek, Open Kapitalen Greek, Franklin Gothic Greek, and De Vinne wooden letters (kindly lent by Philip Moorehouse). Paper is Magnani handmade damped for printing. The binding, in quarter yellow leather with linen sides and slipcase, is made by Norbert Herold. 2004. Edition is 20 signed & numbered copies, of which 15 are for sale at AUS$1500. |
